Hi Everyone, Just a note from me to remind everyone that the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is next June and we are trying to put together a team to organise a Street Party.

We already have some members of the previous committee on board but we are in dire need of some new blood.

Easington Youth Club Bogey Race/Fun Day

This year, the Bogey Race is being organised by Easington Youth Club. It will take place on Sunday afternoon, 28th August, Bank Holiday Weekend.

The Bogey Race will start in the village square and end at the youth club field where other events will take place which will include a BBQ, Tombola, Children’s games and fancy dress competitions.

Please look out for further information on Posters around the village.  Entries from young people and adults will be very welcome.

Please join us for a fun filled day.

Easington Primary School

The School will have a new head teacher in place in September.

Glass Bank, Easington

As you will be aware you can now put glass in the blue bins. However the glass bank will continue to remain on Hull Road and be a source of income for the school to spend on projects to benefit the local environment and community.

We have recently received our first payment for January, February and April 2011 which was £52.00.  Please support the school by continuing to place your glass, of any colour, in the bank.

We will keep you informed about what we spend the money on in future newsletters. Thank you for your support.

Do you have any unwanted/surplus flowering plants?  The school would welcome them so the children can plant them into pots to place outside the school buildings.

Lifestyle Group

On Saturday 27th August the local Lifestyle Group will be at Spurn Point near the Café from 9am onwards serving home made buns and hot and cold drinks.

They will be having a big Tombola and will also be selling home made bird boxes and bee houses along with bird seed and plant seeds to encourage the return of the bee population.

All the money raised will be donated to the Spurn Point Lifeboat Station.  This is a worthwhile cause, so please come and spend, spend, spend.  We look forward to seeing you all there.

Spurn Kilnsea & Easington Area Local Studies Group

Gala Exhibition Saturday, 27th August in the Community Hall, 10am to 4pm.

The Group will be holding an exhibition on Sports and Galas held over the years in Easington.

The subject has been well re-searched by Jean Mills over many months and many of you have helped out with photographs and information for which we would like to thank you.

A separate exhibition will be on display of research carried out by Andrea Clubley on the Public Houses of the area.

We hope you will all come along to see the many and varied photographs which will be on display.  Tea and cakes will be available.

Parish Council News

The new Parish Council came into office on May 16th  Four people had put their names forward, which meant that another five needed to be co-opted.

This was done at the May and July meetings and the Parish Council now consists of Stuart Haywood (Chairman), Jim Green (Vice-Chairman), Roy Clubley, Malcolm Douglas, Burt Graham, Dave Longhorn,  Ann Robinson, Ian Smith, and Kevin Smith.

Full details of councillors' addresses, telephone numbers and emails are on the parish web site at easingtonparish.com.

As is usual, there will be not be a meeting in August, so the next meeting will be on Monday September 5th (note that meetings now take place on the first Monday in the month).

BT Winds for Change

Although Skeffling and Easington Parish Councils had been told that a planning application for 5 turbines was going into the East Riding of Yorkshire Council in June, nothing further has been heard.

When a planning application is submitted there will be a public meeting so that people can express their views.

Easington United AFC

The new season for the First Team begins on Saturday, 13th August although no fixtures are out at time of going to print. Supporters are advised to check posters or the website (www.easington-united.co.uk) for details.

Several pre-season friendly fixtures have been arranged, beginning this Saturday 23rd July at home to Sculcoates Amateurs (2pm) and on Wednesday 27th July at home to the East Riding County FA Juniors (6:30pm).

Our thanks for sponsorship of these go to The Crown & Anchor at Kilnsea.

Two major fundraising events take place in the next few weeks.

On Sunday 24th July the second annual Community Fun Day takes place at Low Farm.

It kicks off at 12 noon with the annual Mike (Raggy) Hudson Memorial game between the Awd Ezzies. and the Ex-Tigers in the main arena.

Also commencing at the same time is a Car Boot Sale, organised by the East End Cancer Relief Fund with proceeds going to the Cancer Centre at Castle Hill Hospital.

Following the football, there will be a host of events in and around the main pitch, including children’s races, fun football, side-stalls, a licensed bar, barbecue, and other re-freshments.

A fortnight later (Sun 7th Aug) club members are set to take part in the “20/20” sponsored walk, along the route of the “Beverley Twenty” with proceeds from this being split between the club and the Emily’s Computer Appeal. Any pledges of support will be greatly appreciated.

Finally, on Wednesday 20th July the Club will unveil its new sponsors for the 2011/12 season when the first ever Kit Sponsors Raffle takes place in the Granby (8pm).

Thanks to over twenty local (and not so local) businesses who pledged the £50 entry fee.
