Mary's garden album is a recollection of an old friend who has since left the village. Mary and John were stalwarts of our local church and raised many thousands of pounds for the upkeep of St Helen’s, one of which was opening her garden to the public on many occasions.
Mary, along with many other friends of the church, organised flower festivals to raise donations for St Helens.
Sadly the church is currently in need of more fund-raising for desperate necessary restoration work. The earthquake the area experienced in February 2008 caused a lot of damage to the structure. St Helen's is a Grade 1 Listed building and for it to continue to be used for Sunday Worship a lot of specialised work must be done.
