Minutes of Meeting held on 2nd October 2001

 

Those present:  Cllr. M. Turnbull Chairman

Cllr. M. Hall Vice Chairman

Cllr. R. Newsam

Cllr. S. Rollinson

Cllr. P. A. Payne

Cllr. J. F. Robinson

 

Also present members of the public:  1

 

The meeting began at 9 p.m. due to a presentation by representatives of Yorkshire Water on the proposed filtration plant.  The presentation was given by Louise Batty and Den Roberts of Yorkshire Water, and Maria Melton of Costain.

 

Minutes of meeting held on 4th September 2001

 

The minutes of the meeting were agreed as being an accurate account.

Seconded:  Cllr. R. Newsam

Vote: Carried unanimously

 

Matters Arising

Cllr. P. Payne has made an informal approach to Amec regarding a waste bin and is waiting for a response.

 

Drains and Dykes

It was agreed that the clerk send copies of Invoices to Louise Batty of Yorkshire Water to recoup money spent on emergency work necessary to clean out dykes in order to alleviate flooding in the village.

 

Village Hall

After a discussion it was agreed to defer the final decision on the Village Hall until more information on the legal aspects of the lease is obtained.  In the meantime Cllr. M. Turnbull proposed that: " …the Parish Council are prepared, in principle, to grant a lease to the Village Hall Committee for a period of 25 years to rebuild and/or refurbish the Village Hall for the benefit of the villagers."

Seconded:  Cllr. M. Hall

Vote:  Carried unanimously

 

Miscellaneous Correspondence

Cllr. S. Rollinson and Cllr. M. Hall were elected to go to the next meeting of the Local Council Committee Meeting on the 9th October at 7.30 p.m. at Brandesburton.

 

Any Other Business

PC Newiss has asked that villagers be aware of strangers looking for work repairing storm damage.  They are not builders and are viewing properties with a view to robbery.  Any suspicious actions should be reported to the police.

 

The  meeting ended at:  9.45 p.m.
