Minutes of Meeting held on 1st May 2001

Minutes of meeting held on 3rd April 2001


The minutes of the meeting were read by the Chairman and agreed as being an accurate account.

Vote:  Carried unanimously


Matters Arising

With regard to the burnt out tractor, Cllr. M. Turnbull has been unable to speak to Mr Meadley about this.


With   regard  to  the  Carriageway.    After  5  unsuccessful  attempts  to  contact  Mr  Burstall,

Cllr. M. Turnbull will be speaking to him tomorrow, 2nd May.



The Clerk reported that Girobank had now sanctioned the bank account, and all the bills had been paid to date.  Cllr. M. Turnbull reported that the Investment Account has now been closed. A cheque from the Investment Account for £657.30 will be issued to cover the Insurance for the Village Hall.  A further cheque from the Investment Account for £1,208.30 will be issued as the donation to the Village Hall.  Warrants have been issued for these cheques, the council is awaiting the cheques from the National Savings Bank.


The Piggeries

This has been investigated by the Planning Department and Council Tax Department.  A letter has been received from Mr. Coates, Planning Department.


It was agreed to defer the matter until a letter from the Council Tax Department has been received.


Speed Limit

Letters have been received from Mrs. Danby stating that the matter is currently under discussion.


A letter and questionnaire has been received from Rural Country Lanes regarding speed limits in rural areas.  The questionnaire was completed and returned.


Bus Shelter

Several complaints have been received about broken glass in and around the bus shelter on Main Road.  As a first course of action a bin will be placed at the shelter to discourage further incidents.



It was proposed that the membership be renewed, and a cheque for £47 be raised to cover the fee.

Miscellaneous Correspondence

Cllr. M. Turnbull has applied for the Foot and Mouth restrictions to be lifted.


The Clerk was instructed to write to the WRVS saying the council is unable to make a donation at this time.


The Special Expenses Review form was completed and returned to ERYC.


Any Other Business

Cllr. J. F. Robinson asked it be minuted that the dykes behinds the telephone box on Main Road and on the Laurel Farm corner be cleaned out immediately as they both contain raw sewage and are, therefore, causing a serious health hazard.


The meeting closed at 9.15 p.m.
