Minutes of Meeting held on 6th March 2001

Minutes of meeting held on 6th February 2001

 

The minutes of the meeting were read by the Chairman and agreed as being an accurate account.

Vote:  Carried unanimously

 

Matters arising

There were no matters arising.

 

Foot and Mouth Restrictions

Notices have been posted that as from today public footpaths, bridleways, etc, are closed to public until further notice.

 

Out Newton Road

The Council have been advised that Out Newton Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2nd April for approximately 4 weeks.  This is for maintenance work to be carried out to retaining walls.  Access is still available for pedestrians.

 

Speed limit on Main Road

Letters are to be sent to PC Swan and Mrs. Paula Danby requesting lowering the speed limit on Main Road from 60 mph to 30 mph.

 

Any Other Business

A    letter   was   received   from   Mrs. C. Beadle   outlining   proposals   for   Village   Hall   use.

Cllr. E. D. Denman was elected to act as liaison between the Council and the Village Hall committee.

Insurance for Village Hall

As soon as the new signatories are accepted and the cheque book available a cheque will be sent to The Insurance Partnership. Total cost for the premises with public liability and fire cover only:

Building Insurance  £525.00

Public liability        £132.20

                         £657.29

 

Authorisation of cheque to be issued.

Vote:  Carried unanimously

 

Authorisation of cheque for the electricity bill for the sum of £15.43

Proposed:   Cllr. M. Turnbull

Seconded:  Cllr. E. D. Denman

Vote:   Carried unanimously

 

Authorisation of cheque for £44 for the hire of digger for emergency measures during the flooding.

Proposed:    Cllr. M. Turnbull

Seconded:   Cllr. E. D. Denman

Vote:    Carried unanimously

 

Village Hall Funding

A proposal was made by Cllr. P. Payne…"that a donation be made to the Village Hall Account, and that the National Savings Investment Account be closed forthwith".

Seconded:    Cllr. M. Hall

Vote:  Carried unanimously

 

A proposal was made by Cllr. J. Robinson… "that the Parish Council retain supervisory control of the donation to the Village Hall".

Seconded:  Cllr. R. Newsam

Vote:  Carried unanimously

 

Caretaker of Village Hall

During Cllr. S. Rollinson's absence due to ill health, Mr and Mrs. A. Beadle have taken over the responsibilities for the village hall.

 

The meeting closed at 10.15 p.m.
