At the sale of local farmer Tom Hodgson's effects on 26th January, a LETTER OF THE
MANORIAL COURT was purchased by Cllr. P. Payne on behalf of the Council. The document
is dated 1774 and was deemed to be of historic interest to the Parish. It was decided
that the original document be copied and offered to the residents of the Parish for
a donation to offset the costs. Several residents showed an interest in the document
and purchased a copy. The Council paid £180 to purchase the document and Cllr. J.
F. Robinson has been made custodian of the document. Ultimately, the original document
has been copied and framed to be in the charge of the Chairman of the Council, and
passed on to each successive Chairman. The document is to be displayed at future
Annual General Meetings and other suitable events so that it can be seen by the public.
