The minutes of the meeting were agreed as being an accurate account.

Proposed:   Cllr. S. Rollinson

Seconded:  Cllr. P. A. Payne

Vote: Carried unanimously

Matters Arising

Mr Meadley's tractor

The matter is in hand but cannot be dealt with until the foot and mouth restrictions have been lifted.

Winsett's Carriageway

The legal documents have been passed to ERYC and are being dealt with.  It was agreed that the position be reviewed by the Council in three months time.

Speed Limit

A survey will be carried out in due course.

Foot and mouth restrictions

The path between Skeffling and Easington will be assessed for risk and re-opened on Friday 8th June.  The final decision will be confirmed by phone or in writing and land owners will be notified.

A cheque was raised in the sum of £595.17 for election expenses.

Proposed:   Cllr. M. Hall

Seconded:  Cllr. M. Turnbull

Vote:  Carried unanimously

The Clerk was instructed to write to the ERYC querying the final amount and asking that it be looked at again with a view to reducing this.

Cllr. J. F. Robinson reported that the Environment Agency will finish work to the sewerage system in Skeffling in early 2003.  The two dykes causing immediate problems are not necessarily part of a plan, but action will be taken to ensure they will be cleaned as soon as possible.

Any Other Business

A letter has been received from Mr. E. D. Denman resigning from the Parish Council and the Village Hall Committee.  The Clerk was instructed to advertise the vacancy.

A letter has been received from the Vicar regarding the bench recently erected in the Churchyard in remembrance of Mr. Melvin Douglas.  He asks that in future permission be sought from him before any similar work is carried out on Church property.

Cllr. R. Newsam asked that a vote of thanks be given to Cllr. M. Turnbull and Mr. Beadle for the work they did to complete the car park at the Village Hall in preparation for Skeffling 2001.

He also felt it was irresponsible to begin a project and abandon it before its satisfactorily completion, thereby leaving it to others to put right.  The parish Council felt that a letter should be sent to Mr Paul Sanderson regarding his position on the Village Hall committee.  This was unanimously agreed.

The meeting closed at 8.50 p.m.

Date of next meeting:   3rd July 2001
