Matters Arising

Cllr. S. Rollinson queried progress made to the entrance of Stothard's Yard.  The clerk reported that she had written to Mike Peeke on the matter, and understood this has been put on his list of work.

Yorkshire Water

On the 17th December 2001 Cllr. M. Turnbull met with Mr. Terry Davis (on behalf of Yorkshire Water), to discuss the size of the proposed filtration plant.  A letter has now been received from Costain's with a plan of the new proposed site.  The unit will be put on land purchased from Mr. Brian Meadley, but the access road would be on Parish land.  Before agreeing to their proposals, councillors are to visit a similar plant in North Yorkshire to assess the impact on the local residents and landscape.  There will be a public meeting with Yorkshire Water when the residents of the village will be able to ask questions on any aspect of the work.

Speed Limit

A draft proposal has been received from ERYC outlining the proposed area to be covered by the 30 m.p.h. speed limit.  This includes: Main Road, Chapel Lane, Church Road, Humber Lane, Winsett's Road and Out Newton Road.  The speed limit will be implemented early in 2002.

Any Other Business

There have been numerous complaints regarding dog fouling in the village.  The owner of the dog, Mr. Sidney Turnbull of Wilberforce Farm, has refused to comply with requests to clean up after his dog.  It was agreed that the Council write to Mr. Turnbull in the strongest terms, informing him of the complaints and asking him to keep his dog under control and to clean up after him.  If he refuses to accept this, he will be prosecuted.

Planning Permission

Cllr. R. Newsam left the meeting at this time as he has an interest in the matter. Planning permission has been requested to build a detached garage and store at Elm Field, Main Road, Skeffling.  It was agreed that permission be granted.

Proposed:   Cllr. M. Turnbull

Seconded:  Cllr. M. Hall

Vote: Carried unanimously

The meeting closed at 9.10 p.m.

Date of next meeting:  5th February 2002
