Minutes of Meeting held on 17th January 2001

ELECTIONS

Elections took place to install the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Parish Clerk.

 

Chairman

Nominated:  Cllr. M. Turnbull

Proposed:   Cllr. E. D. Denman

Seconded:  Cllr. S. Rollinson

Vote: Carried unanimously

 

Vice Chairman

Nominated:  Cllr. M. Hall

Proposed:   Cllr. M. Turnbull

Seconded:  Cllr. R. Newsam

Vote: Carried unanimously

 

Parish Clerk

Nominated:  Mrs. Toni Cornford

Proposed:  Cllr. J. F. Robinson

Seconded: Cllr. S. Rollinson

Vote: Carried unanimously

 

Precept

There was a detailed discussion on council expenditure for the coming year.  The expenses were broken down as follows:-

Election expenses                     £400

Insurance for Village Hall            £500

Provisional salary for the clerk     £100

Electricity bill for the street light   £50.

 

It was finally agreed to set a Precept of £600 for the year 2001/2002.

Resignation

Mr Thomas Hessell tendered his official resignation as treasurer of the Village Hall.

Cllr. S. Rollinson was elected as Caretaker of the Village Hall and was given the keys.

 

Acceptance Forms

There was some concern that the official Acceptance Forms for Councillors had not been received.  Cllr. M. Turnbull was asked to contact Mr O'Connor as the matter was considered urgent.

 

Flood Defence

Cllr. J. F. Robinson brought up the matter of the meeting of the 12th January between councillors and Mr David Pratt of the Environment Agency.  Mr Pratt has promised to write to the Council regarding the topics discussed.

 

Council Meetings

It was agreed that in future there should be monthly meetings of the Council,  to be held on the first Tuesday of each month.

 

The meeting closed at 7.40 p.m.

 

Next meeting to be held on 6th February 2001.
