Hospital Closure

A letter has been received from Graham Stuart MP asking for the Council's support to stop Withernsea Community Hospital from closure.  The letter asks that if the Council agrees there is a need for NHS beds to serve rural communities would the Council write to the PCT formally opposing all the PCT's options and demanding the retention of NHS beds in our community hospitals.  It also asks that we let Graham Stuart know we have done this.  There is a board meeting of the PCT at Community Hall, Burnby Hall, The Balk, Pocklington at 9.30am on Wednesday 28th March and if possible could we send a representative of the Council to express our opposition.

It was strongly agreed to support this course of action.  The Clerk will write to the PCT stating our objections in the strongest terms, a copy to be sent to Graham Stuart with a covering letter of support.  It was also agreed to canvass support in the village and arrange for as many representatives as possible to attend the meeting.

Correspondence

Winsett's Road

Following receipt of the maps regarding the re-routing of Winsett's Road, the Council were in agreement with the proposed new route.  The Documents were signed by the Chairman and will be sent back without objections.  The yellow copy is for our records, the white copy to be returned to East Riding Council. Proposed:   Cllr. P. Payne

Seconded:  Cllr. S. Rollinson

Vote:  carried unanimously

Public Speaking

Mrs. Meadley asked if the Council would organise a deputation from Skeffling to attend  the  PCT meeting  in  Pocklington  to object to the hospital closure plans.

She suggested that placards stating  our objections be made to hold up in front of the Board. She also asked that we approach this meeting in a professional manner and prepare a valid list of our objections should we be given the opportunity to speak to the Board.

The Council readily agreed to this and a public meeting has been arranged for Thursday, 22nd February at the Village Hall starting at 7.30pm. {Read more}

The meeting closed at 8.30 pm.
