Matters Arising

All items to be discussed are Agenda items.

Declaration of Interest

There were no declarations of interest.

Npower

Cllr. J. F. Robinson has been in contact with CE Electrics regarding the disconnection of the streetlight and was told it would cost £400.  He is continuing to negotiate with them about reducing this figure.  He has also contacted East Riding of Yorkshire Council regarding an annual contract  to  supply  and  service  the  light.    This plan  would  cost  £71  per annum.  Until Cllr. J. F. Robinson has completed negotiations with CE Electrics the matter will remain pending.

WSEHP Parish Sub Group

The next meeting of the Partnership Parish Sub Group will be on 3rd March at 7pm at Skeffling Village Hall.  Cold weather plans were discussed and the Councils' views and ideas will be put forward at the meeting on 3rd March.

Flood Defences

Three days after the pumping station and water levels were checked the pump broke down.  This has now been replaced, and everything is working well.

Correspondence

The only correspondence was for information only and put in the folder.

Public Speaking

There was no public speaking.

Cllr. M. Turnbull  left  the  meeting  at  8.35pm  and  took  no  part  in  the following item.  In Cllr. M. Turnbull's absence Cllr. J. F. Robinson, Vice Chairman, took the Chair.

Comments letter to East Riding of Yorkshire Council

A lengthy discussion took place regarding the letter Skeffling Parish Council wrote to East Riding of Yorkshire Council supporting Cllr. M. Turnbull's application to have the local needs Clause on his planning application removed.

Our letter to East Riding of Yorkshire Council was altered before being put before the planning committee.  As a result of this editing  the salient points in the letter were omitted completely, thereby changing the meaning and tone of the letter.  As a consequence Councillors felt very strongly that the 'revised version' of our letter did not effectively reflect Skeffling Parish Council's views.

Upon investigation it was discovered that East Riding of Yorkshire Council was entitled to alter comments letters "for the sake of brevity".  Skeffling Parish Council are extremely dissatisfied with this 'rule', but are unable to change it.

Meeting closed at 8.45pm

Date of next meeting:   1st March 2011
