Proceeds of the Sale of Parish Land
Before discussing this item Cllr. M. Turnbull said that as well as the money received for the sale of the land, the Council will be receiving an annual rental from Yorkshire Water as agreed. This meeting was to discuss ideas as to how to use the money for the benefit of the village. Once ideas have been agreed budgets would be set for each project, and the work will be carried out in phases as finances are available.
1. Cllr. R. Newsam suggested more work should be done outside the Village Hall, as it can look untidy. It could be paved or hard landscaping laid which is easy maintenance. Cllr. J. Sizer suggested purchasing a strimmer to be kept at the Village Hall. Cllr. M. Turnbull has a sit upon lawn mower which he will repair, and this, too, can be left in the container at the Village Hall.
Cllr. S. Rollinson proposed the Council purchase a strimmer, and Cllr. J. Sizer is to get prices.
Seconded: Cllr. J. Sizer
Vote: carried unanimously
2. Cllr. R. Newsam proposed hard landscaping be laid around the Village Hall as this is low maintenance.
Seconded: Cllr. M. Turnbull
Vote: carried unanimously
3. Cllr. M. Turnbull suggested thought be given by Councillors as to what can be done with the Village Green. As it is Parish land we should do something with it to benefit the village. It was agreed that this item be left to the next meeting while Cllr. R. Newsam contacts ERNLLCA regarding the access problem over the land.
4. Cllr. J. Sizer proposed that the container be clad in the same material as the Village Hall. This would cost approximately £120.
Seconded: Cllr. M. Turnbull
Vote: carried unanimously
5. Cllr. J. F. Robinson proposed a bench be sited on the Main Road/Chapel Lane corner. The two benches donated by Steve Holden to be sited at the Church. Also that seating be provided in the bus shelters. The bus shelters need re-painting.
Seconded: Cllr. S. Rollinson
Vote: carried unanimously
6. Cllr. J. F. Robinson proposed we provide our own aluminium recycling bin to be placed next to the paper and glass bins. The promised bins from ERYC may now not arrive, but there is nothing to stop us providing our own. This will belong to the Parish Council who will empty the contents and sell the aluminium. The funds will then be paid into the Parish Council account. Cllrs. J. F. Robinson and M. Turnbull volunteered to empty the bins when necessary and arrange for the load to be sold.
Seconded: Cllr. S. Rollinson
Vote: carried unanimously
7. Cllr. L. Payne proposed that money needs to be spent inside the Village Hall. The toilets need updating, hot water provided to the toilets, a separate hand washbasin is needed in the kitchen to comply with Health and Hygiene regulations. Each item needs to be costed. In addition the cost of new kitchen units will be explored. Mr. Baden Sonley has offered to donate £500 to the Village Hall for the improvements.
Seconded: Cllr. J. F. Robinson
Vote: carried unanimously
Play Area
The costs on the Play Area will not be a major amount. It is proposed to use ironwork, fencing, bark and telegraph poles. The fencing will be the biggest cost. Phase One will consist of 3 or 4 items. An American swing, 2 tunnels and possibly a smaller swing. The fencing must be done first to border the Play Area. The situation regarding additional play equipment will be appraised in a year's time and carried out when money allows.
Proposed: Cllr. M. Turnbull
Seconded: Cllr. J. Sizer
Vote: carried unanimously
All items will be costed for Phase One, and as far as possible will be made from recycled materials.
Meeting closed 8.40 p.m.
