Elections 2011
Have you considered standing as a Councillor? There will be a new Parish Council after the election, which takes place on Thursday, May 5th. New members will be welcome.
For Easington Parish there are nine Councillors representing Easington, Kilnsea, Out Newton and Spurn Point. Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of the month. If you want to become involved in how your parish is run, why not put your name forward? If you want to know the kind of matters for which the Parish Council is responsible, see the Parish web site at easingtonparish.com, where a list of current Councillors, and agendas and minutes from the last few months may be viewed.
Nomination forms will be sent to Parish Clerks from 1st March, or may be downloaded from East Riding of Yorkshire Council web site. The nomination period runs from then until 5th April.
Candidates can either stand as a representative of a political party, stand as ‘Independent’, or stand with a description of up to six words. Candidates need to make sure they have a proposer, seconder and 2 subscribers.
For more information contact the Parish Clerk, Jan Crowther, email: easingtonpc@btinternet.com

Welwick Sponsored Bike Ride

A presentation was recently made of £10,000 to the Cancer Centre at Castle Hill. The money is going to buy mobile blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, thermometers and nebulisers, some of which are going into the new Teenage and Young Adult Cancer ward they are opening in the centre.
The money has been raised from Coffee Mornings, the Christmas Draw, quizzes and various sales at the Crown & Anchor, Kilnsea, the Welwick Christmas Auction, Welwick Bike Ride and various donations.

Evergreens
The Easington Evergreens’ Coach Trips start again with a trip to a Shopping Mall near Castleford on the 14th March and a little trip to Northfield, Withernsea on 25th March to see The Old Time Music Hall show. Unfortunately, Joan and myself will miss this one as we’ll be bobbing across the channel to France. As we can so easily get lost anywhere we go, this should prove to be an interesting visit.
Glad to hear Diane Horncastle has got over her operation alright and congratulations to her and Paul for their Ruby Wedding Anniversary which was on the 20th February.
We all wish Robina a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back at the Coffee Mornings very soon.
Pat Clarke.
Something Special…
Holderness Vintage Machinery Club are holding their annual Vintage Tractor Road Run on the 2nd May (May Bank Holiday Monday), around some of Holderness’s country roads and lanes.
Around 40 to fifty tractors will leave Boyes Lane, Keyingham at 10am with the route taking them through Ottringham, Patrington, Welwick and Skeffling on the main road.
At Skeffling they will turn right to Winsetts farm through the lanes to Southend, to Lounts Farm, arriving from Seaside Road into Easington, where they will make a lunch stop in Easington at about 11.30 to 12 noon, where they will be on show in the Youth Club Field between 12 to 1.30pm, (weather permitting).
All are very welcome to come and see the old tractors and I am sure the drivers will attempt to answer any questions about their tractors or the Club.
The Club members and drivers will have a lunch in the Community Hall before leaving for the return journey to Keyingham, this route will take them through Hollym, Froddingham, Winestead and back to Boyes Lane, Keyingham where a welcome cup of tea will be available for them.
Anyone requiring further details about the route should contact John Broom. COMMUNITY HALL

Addendum from Diane
My thanks go to Pam Pearce for putting this Months Newsletter together, and also Pam, Jan, Joan and Andrea for their continued help with delivery. (If anyone else would like to help with delivery please let me know).
We are all very sad to hear of the death of our former Dairy Farmer/Milkman, Clarence Douglas. He served the area for many years (originally from a hand-cart ladling the milk from the churn). He was a lovely man. Our condolences go to the family.
Well Done to Sarah Smith bringing live Theatre to Easington wonderful! And it is a Sell Out!
Finally on a personal note my thanks to family and friends for the cards, flowers (very welcome food!) and good wishes during my recent enforced inactivity.
