2011

December       Sat 24th 10.pm. All Saints Church Easington ”Bethlehem” Christmas Mass with carols.

 

Wed 14th 7pm. Carols by Candle light at St. Helen’s Church Skeffling.

 

A “Yorkshire Christmas Carol” is being held on Tuesday 13th December 2011 at the Easington Community Hall, starts 7:30 pm.  Tickets £8.50 Adults, £5.00 Children 5-16 includes free refreshments.  Tickets available from the Easington Post Office or call Sarah on 01964 650337.  Enjoy a family treat for Christmas 2011 and join the much lauded Badapple Theatre company for their latest production.

 

Wed 7th 7:30pm All Saints Church, Easington, Carol Service followed by refreshments.

 

This months Police Surgery at Skeffling Village Hall, is on Wednesday 7th December between 7:00p.m. and 8:00p.m  The Police Surgery isn't specifically to report crimes in the area, but to help and advise on home security, etc.

 

Xmas Fayre, Skeffling Village Hall, Saturday 3rd December 11 - 12:00 noon As in previous years, all the proceeds from the Xmas Fayre will go to the fabric of St. Helen's Church.

 

November       This months Police Surgery at Skeffling Village Hall, is on Wednesday 2nd November between 7:00p.m. and 8:00p.m  The Police Surgery isn't specifically to report crimes in the area, but to help and advise on home security, etc.

 

Bonfire Night will be on 5th November! Now there's a surprise.  It's a Saturday, and promises to be another night to remember.  There'll be a BBQ, and home-made soup, tea, coffee and soft drinks available in the Village Hall. Bring the kids and come and have a good time.  You can even have your supper while watching the firework display. The BBQ will be ready about 6.30pm and the fireworks will start to light up soon after.

September      My Brilliant Divorce is showing at Skeffling Village Hall on Friday, 23rd September. Tickets are £6, and it starts at 7.30pm.  Light refreshments will be available during the interval. August           Easington Youth Club Bogey Race/Fun Day.  It will take place on Sunday afternoon, 28th August, Bank Holiday Weekend. The Bogey Race will start in the village square and end at the youth club field where other events will take place which will include a BBQ, Tombola, Children’s games and fancy dress competitions  {Futher details}

 

Spurn Kilnsea & Easington Area Local Studies Group, Gala Exhibition Saturday, 27th August at the Easington Community Hall, 10am to 4pm.  Tea and cakes will be available.

 

St Helen’s Church, An official reopening ceremony will take place on St. Helen's Day, Thursday 18th August at 6pm.  The Archdeacon of the East Riding and the Deanery Choir will join the celebrations.

June:           Ben Briggs who has just moved to Skeffling is doing a charity walk in aid of Alopecia Uk.  He and friends will be walking from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood's Bay a total of 192 miles.  Its on the 19th June and hopefully only taking seven days to complete.  A sponsorship form can be obtained from Skeffling Post Office.

May:            Land's End to John O' Groats challenge.  On 27th May, Mike and Gaz will set off down to Cornwall with their trusty bikes and on the 28th May will begin their 1000 mile journey to raise money for the Stroke Ward of Hull Royal Infirmary and one of the Forces Charities.

Elections are being held on the 5th May for the South East Holderness District, candidates will represent this area on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.  Voting is at Skeffling Village Hall, plus there is the vote for “AV Referendum”.

Holderness Vintage Machinery Club are holding their annual Vintage Tractor Road Run on the 2nd May (May Bank Holiday Monday), around some of Holderness’s country roads and lanes.  40 to 50 tractors will leave Boyes Lane, Keyingham at 10am with the route taking them through Ottringham, Patrington, Welwick and Skeffling on the main road.  At Skeffling they will turn right to Winsetts farm through the lanes to Southend, to Lounts Farm, arriving from Seaside Road into Easington at about 11.30 to 12 noon.

 

April:           Welwick sponsored bike ride to Kilnsea on Good Friday, 22nd April.  Meet at Bernards, Welwick (traffic lights) for 11.00 a.m. start.  For sponsor forms contact the Crown & Anchor, Kilnsea 01964 650276 or Mick Wilkin 01964 630556.  All  proceeds in aid of Castle Hill Heart Unit and East End Cancer Relief Fund (for the Cancer Centre at Castle Hill).

March:         On Tuesday 15th March 2011,the Badapple Theatre Company will be performing a show called "Back to the Land Girls: The Land Girls of Yorkshire" at the Easington Community Hall.  This show is a delightful, light hearted comedy which celebrates the highs and lows of the Land Army Girls who helped keep Britain fed during World War II.  pm  Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £5 for children aged 10 to 16 years.  Tickets are available from the Post Office at Easington or Sarah Smith on 650337.  The show will start at 7.30 pm and the ticket price includes refreshments.  There is also a choice to come dressed in clothing which would have been worn during world war II.  Details of the show and the theatre company can be found at www.badappletheatre.com

February:       Half Term at The Hut, Withernsea's adventure playground for school children.  They'll find lots to do there which will keep them busy and entertained. The Hut will be open daily from Monday, 21st February to Saturday, 26th February from 10am to 3pm, although they will close for lunch from 12.30 - 1pm

Memories of Boothferry Park, exhibition of photos and paintings by a local lad, Roland Wheeler Osman, will be held a the Hull History Centre from 14th Feb to 14th Mar.

 

Church Services.   While St. Helen's is undergoing refurbishment, Church Services will be held at 'Windy Nook' on the 1st Sunday of the month at 9.30am.  The Services are open to anyone who would like to attend, and you will receive a warm welcome.   The next Church Service will be on Sunday, 6th February.

 

Burns Night Celebrations, at the Village Hall on Saturday 5th February from 7:00p.m. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that all the tickets have been sold, but Sue has a reserve list at the Post Office in case anyone drops out.  If you haven't got a ticket, but would like to be on the reserve list please give her a ring on 650330.  {Full report in the February Newsletter}

 

January:        There will be a coffee morning on Saturday 22nd January at the Easington Community Hall to raise funds to cover some of the costs of bringing the Badapple theatre show in March to Easington.  Any donations of tombola or raffle prizes would be greatly welcomed.  If you would like to help contact Sarah Smith on 650337.
